Kansas Sunset Fall Soap in Blood Orange Fragrance

Kansas Sunset Fall Soap

Kansas Sunset

Kansas Sunset Fall soap

Kansas Sunset Fall soap is the first for partner K. He calls this ‘Kansas Sunset’. One thing about this state – the sunrises and sunsets never disappoint! Breathtaking! So he designed a soap to replicate the pinks, reds, oranges, burgundy, that surround the glowing yellow sun setting in the eve of a long day’s work on the prairie. The fragrance is Blood Orange with a hint of Teak wood to anchor it.

Fall Soap – ‘Fall Flurry’ – ORGANIC Soap in Autumn Colors and Fragrances

Fall Soap Fall Flurry

Fall Soap: “Fall Flurry”

Our second Fall soap we call ‘Fall Flurry’. For us, Autumn brings howling breezes that swirl colorful leaves around in little twisters. Decorations in purples, greens, and blacks, – starry nights lit up with jack’o’lanterns – a flurry of colors! I tried to mimic the fragrance of Absinthe – anise essential oils, cassia cinnamon essential oil, a little orange, some herbal greens, and anchored in amber and wood. It is a fun, perhaps eerie, perhaps frolicking, design.

Although the colors are dark, the lathering suds are not.

In fact, our soaps made with ORGANIC oils known to condition the skin work up quite a copious lather!

Our soaps are sudsy!

You can find this limited edition Fall soap, along with our ghost soap “Phantasm”, and our gorgeous “Kansas Sunset” soap, in our Etsy store here.¬†

Phantasm Fall Soap

Phantasm fall soap

Phantasm Fall Soap

Fall soaps are here!

Our first Fall soap we call ‘Phantasm’. It is phantasmic! (Pardon the pun; I could not resist.) The fragrance of Neroli (Orange Blossoms) is alluring and seductive, just like the design. The design was inspired by Auntie Clara Soaps. (Shout out!) Using 2 different water concentrations to make the design leaves the soap pure and without colorants.

On my second batch I allowed myself to go a little more phantastical with the design – or perhaps I was inebriated by the intoxicating fragrance. ūüėČ

Phantasm fall soap

I cannot find the words to fully describe how amazing this soap smells! I want to fragrance all of my personal products with it! Time to order a gallon .

In full disclosure, I did make lotion using this fragrance and I find myself stopping in my steps and looking around to figure out what that incredibly wonderful smell is… And then I realize it is ME! Hahahaha! Truth. Hey, it helps me to be mindful, so – bonus.

Our Fall soaps are all made using organic oils. They lather with abundant bubbles and a creamy conditioning texture, leaving clean skin in its wake. The fragrances we have chosen will help to usher in the awareness and embrace of Autumn! However, these are offered for a

LIMITED TIME – WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!

Kansas-Inspired MANdle Candles and Soaps

Kansas-inspired soap

The Rancher

Kansas-inspired, Kansas made.

Inspired by the men (and women) of Kansas, we reinvented our MANdles line to reflect and honor the hardworking men (and women) of the Midwest.

With an increase in a desire to be self-sufficient, it is common that one person or family performs all or many of the following roles successfully. We do not see these inspirations as mutually exclusive, in other words. Nor do we ignore the strong women of this state who inspire us as well. However, MANdles is a line of candles and soaps with masculine appeal. And so we introduce…

Kansas-inspired soap

The Beekeeper

The Beekeeper – Rich, succulent, golden honey fragrance with local honey added for a deeply sensual experience. The vast rolling plains are decorated with multi-colored wild flowers from Spring until Fall. This is the perfect environment for both bees and beekeepers to thrive in. Our honeycomb-shaped soap with a hardworking honey bee reminds us of the sweet fruits of labor. You can find it here.

Kansas-inspired soap

The Businessman

The Businessman – Neat and clean, high-end cologne fragrance that lingers just enough to give a noticeable “mmm!” as he walks by. The soap shape reflects our vision of a crisp, white shirt fresh from the dry-cleaner, ready and waiting for today’s choice of tie. You can find it here.

Kansas-inspired soap

The Farmer

The Farmer – Fresh outdoor fragrance of uplifting lemongrass. The recognizable green and yellow of the JD tractor plowing through lush fields of wheat, soy, sorghum, and corn, leaving behind tread marks in the soil was our vision for the shape of this soap. You can find it here.

Kansas-inspired soap

The Rancher

The Rancher – Earthy blend of teakwood with a touch of leather that is as alluring as the proverbial cowboy. Driving along Kansas roads, one can still see the wooden fence posts and barbed wire from long ago. Inspired by our imaginations, we created our own soap mold to reflect and honor this history. You can find it here.

Kansas-inspired soap

The Soldier

The Soldier – Clean and freshly showered soldiers reporting for duty! “Double Tap” soap is inspired by the sounds commonly heard around this area as soldiers train to defend our great country. Having soldiers in the family, we know that lingering fragrance is frowned upon, so this soap keeps it invigorating in the shower, but non-lingering once in the uniform. We not only thought of soldiers, but those security, investigators, police officers, and others who actively lay their life on the line to protect and serve our country and community. Nevertheless…. “Hooah!” You can find this soap here.

Kansas-inspired Candles

MANdle candles in 100% soy wax

Want to extend these awesome fragrances? MANdle candles in the sleek and elegant silver travel tins are available in the above scents. Made from 100% soy wax grown here in the Midwest! You can find our MANdle candles here.

Kansas-inspired, Kansas-made, and Kansas-grown (Midwest).

Mother’s Day is Almost Here!

Mother’s Day Gift Time!

My #mom is an amazing woman. She worked hard to create memories for us while we were growing, and now that we are grown, with children of our own, she still amazes us with her creativity and devotion. I could go on and on about this incredible woman, her tragedies and triumphs, but that isn’t the jist of this reminder post.

In addition to my public awe over my own mother, I want to remind us that there are many kinds of mothers in this world. Those who are like a second mom, those who are like an adoptive mom, those who are as close as a mom, those who mother other living organisms as a mom, even for those dads who have chosen to take on the role of nurturing mom… Thank you.

For all she has done, this is the time of year to purposefully show and say ‘Thank you, Mom.”

We know what moms like. Something they would love, but would not necessarily buy for themselves. Something that makes them feel special more than just one day a year. Something that makes them feel confident and attractive, as well as something that reminds them of YOU. What could possible accomplish all of these wishes?

Our thick, luxurious lotion with a matching effervescent soap!LS & Lotion

A gorgeous, eye-catching candle to remind mom of you, as well as to fill the room with alluring fragrance!recycled glass candles

Or how about our pampering, buttery, decadent bath truffles? #momlife can be quite stressful. A glass of wine and a shea & cocoa butter truffle in the tub will soak away her stress.

We can put together a gift basket for you. Just message us and we can discuss it.

We can send the gift straight to your mom! Make sure you allow us time to make it and send it. (Order now!!!) or before Friday, May 5.

Why Do We Skip Sulfates in Our Products?

Why Do We Skip Sulfates in Our Products?

As you may have seen us post on our website, blog, etsy, and facebook page, we skip sulfates in our products. Our products are #paraben-free, #phthalate-free, #petroleum-free, as well as #sulfate-free! You can even select the option of #fragrance-free for all of our products.

We do a lot of shopping on Vitacost. One of our recent orders had their “Healthy Living Delivered” brochure featuring brief overviews on why going “free” is the choice many people make. We so wholeheartedly agree and appreciate the aesthetically appealing presentations, that I searched for it online in order to share it with you. I could not find a link, but I did find this article called “5 Reasons to Skip Sulfates“. Please enjoy their post!

Ready to shop for sulfate-free products? Check out our web store or our Etsy store!

2017 Fragrance Line for Prairie Lights

2017 Fragrance Line

It is time to “Spring Ahead” with our 2017 Fragrance Line! We will carry many of these delicious fragrances year-round now, in order to allow you to get attached and get refills on candles, soaps, truffles, and lotions.

Apple Harvest – This fragrance makes us wish our apple trees were in full fruit! The fresh and bright scents of fresh-cut apples in a variety! The sweet of a fresh delicious, the spark of a fresh granny smith, the balance in a jazz… It combines all of the best for a fruit fragrance. Not too sweet, not too tart, not too spice. Very popular with customers!

Blue Spruce – We chose to keep this fragrance year-round because it is VIBRANT! Perfect for creating that uplifting, cool and fresh feeling any time of year. This is truly an enchanting fragrance, ergo our occasional re-name “Enchanted Forest”. Use it in our liquid soap and WOW! We are hooked! This fragrance is infused with essential oils to give it that extra kick!

Caramelized Pralines – For those of you who are vanilla-lovers, but are looking for something with a unique twist, this is it! Traditional sweet vanilla base with mouth-watering undertones of warm, nutty pecans and brown sugared buttery caramels. This fragrance makes it hard not to lick! Yum!!!

Coconut Jasmine – Our own blend of a perfect, well-balanced jasmine paired with a lovely coconut fragrance. This is a perfect combination of soft floral and sweet coconut.

Coconut Orange Cardamom РIt reminds me of a tropical island Рcoconut and citrus with a hint of spicy cardamom. There is something unique about the combination, and yet familiar. Just gotta have it!

Lavender Mint – We love lavender neat, and we use mint all summer long, so when we saw this fragrance, we thought we’d give it a try. We are not disappointed, and neither will you be! It smells like lavender blooming next to our bright green mint leaves! Relaxing and refreshing.

Lemon Verbena – Always a favorite of ours any time of year – this dazzling, zesty fragrance brightens up the room and seems to clear out unwanted scents. (I love the fragrance of cooking – but not lingering smells!) Better than just a lemon, this captures the freshness of the bloom and combines it with fresh-cut lemon.

Lemongrass РA favorite of one of the PLC family, we decided it was time to share. The tang of lemon and the outdoor freshness of cut grass! Just like that wonderful herb used in cooking! Clean, fresh, uplifting.

Pineapple Zest – Our own blend of bright lemon verbena and sweet, mouth-watering pineapple fresh from the plant and cut on the spot! Juicy, and invigorating!

Red Ginger Saffron – We LOVE this fragrance with its zest and vigor of fresh-cut ginger root and the underlying tones of saffron, cardamom, and lemongrass. It is so uplifting and different! “Wow!” is the normal response – as the eyes widen and a smile overtakes. This fragrance is infused with essential oils for an added kick.

Ruby Red Grapefruit – What can match the fragrance of a fresh-cut grapefruit? The succulent pulp and the sharp juice glistening in the morning light. Good morning!!! We do love the uplifting fragrance of grapefruit, and this meets our every desire!

Saffron & Cedar – We have added this because it surprised us in such a healthy way. Perhaps it is the base of vetiver and musk that causes it to take on a depth and breadth that lured us in. It is hard to not keep picking it up and breathing in deeply, cradling “my precious”. Hahaha. Well, breathing deeply is encouraged, so we bought a larger bottle and are eager to share this fragrance of cedar surrounded by the soft background players of saffron, violet, & geranium.

Vanilla & Pears – Another twist on the traditional vanilla (see caramelized pralines fragrance for the other). Warm and soft vanilla balanced perfectly with fresh pears make this fragrance alluring and calming, centering. Not too sweet, not too fruity. Juuuusstt right. Very popular.

Our fragrances will be fully available within the next 24 hours. Thank you for your patience while we change Etsy, our website, and our store.

Why do we use organic oils in our organic handcrafted soap?

Organic Handcrafted Soap – Why are organic oils important to us?

Organic Handcrafted Soap

Mythical Mermaid – Organic Handcrafted Soap

Do you dismiss “organic” as frivolous?

Our skin is the largest organ of our body. It makes sense to try to refrain from slathering onto our major organ some chemically-laden product. (And regarding candles & melts, we refuse to suck in petroleum by-products like paraffin into our noses or mouths. Disgusting!)

Organic soap matches our values of being ecologically-friendly. Unfortunately, certified organic means the farmers have to pay the government-approved agencies to inspect and “certify”, which mean more cost to us. This is not necessarily economically-friendly up front. In the long run, it is economical to our health and environment to grow food organically.

(By the way, becoming familiar with your local growers allows you to save money by finding like-minded people who do grow “organically”, but do not embrace the added cost of becoming certified. Visit your local outdoor markets!)

Family owned and operated, economics are important to us. Our family grows our own herbs in order to offset costs. These herbs are incorporated into our organically-grown ingredients by infusing oils and creating floral & herbal waters (hydrosols). We love to hand craft these into our organic soaps!

Here is the USDA definition of organic:

Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation. Before a product can be labeled “organic,” a Government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Companies that handle or process organic food before it gets to your local supermarket or restaurant must be certified, too.”

Organic handcrafted soap can reduce¬†the toxic load to our bodies by using ingredients which are both ecologically-friendly and economically-friendly (in the long run). We follow suit with our bath truffle and lotions. Why allow your skin to soak up and accumulate toxins if you have a legitimate option to that? Do you know that your liver cannot clean out most of those toxins? It just builds up and builds up…

Think about that the next time you shower or bathe.

Customers can buy organic handcrafted body products in our Etsy store or in our Shop
